Toogoolawa Schools Project established it's first school in N.S.W. in the old primary school at Barnsley, south of Newcastle. The Toogoolawa School opened in October 2001 with John Herron as the sole teacher looking after three and then five students. Needing larger premises and with the wish to be closer to Newcastle and the beach the school moved to its present site at 96 Hannel St, Wickham 2293, in the old Mission for Seamen building in July 2002.
The telephone number at the school is 02 4961 3322.
Now the Wickham school has two full-time teachers
and one teaching assistant for a maximum enrolment of twelve students.
Ongoing financial help is required for this
and other schools projected to continue.
The NSW Toogoolawa school will require $140,000 annually for one teacher and a teaching assistant
with up to 8 students, and
$200,000 for two teachers plus a teaching assistant
with a maximum of 12 students.
